Employee Spotlight
Rick Annunziata
Commercial Services Officer
Rick Annunziata joined Tioga State Bank’s Commercial Lending Team in April 2015. In 2017, when there was a vacancy for the Office Manager position at the TSB Fifth Ave. Office, Rick stepped up and filled the position. And after the position was filled a few months later, he returned to his love of commercial lending full time.
Aside from working at the bank, Rick is a small business owner himself, currently owning 3 companies. His first business, R&M Paintball, began as a retail paintball store and later expanded to include playing fields. He then formed Turich Realty, a real estate holding company, when he purchased both the store and field properties. A few years later, RIck had an opportunity to purchase a 50% stake in B&G Sealcoating. The company expanded tremendously during his 8 years as an owner. As the business grew, they had the need for their own facility, so 402 Airport Rd Holdings was created.
Rick recently sold off the last of his holdings in R&M and B&G to focus more time on commercial lending and his family. And in his spare time, his kid’s travel sports team fills up his schedule.
Q&A with Rick Annunziata
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy cooking (primarily outdoor based things like smoking, grilling etc.), golf, and hanging out with the family.
What are your hobbies?
I collect Oakley (mostly vintage ones). Also, I run a few businesses that I own outside of working for the bank. And did I mention golf? Haha.
What is a fun fact about you?
At one point I owned six companies. Currently, I own three companies.
What do you like the most about being a commercial lender?
I love having the ability to help people start and/or grow their businesses. As a business owner myself, I understand what it takes to operate a successful business, and how important it is to have a good attorney, accountant, and banker. Without a partner on the banking side of the equation, most business owners would have a very difficult time operating their company. I find a lot of joy in watching the companies I assist grow and prosper in this community.
What inspired you to pursue a career in business banking?
The biggest influence was my father, who worked in banking. Growing up, I had the opportunity to attend a lot of bank events with him. Whether social in nature or business driven, there were two things that always stuck with me. One was how appreciative these customers were of my father. To this day, I run into clients of his that tell me that they would not be where they are today if it weren’t for my father’s belief in their business and his assistance with various bank products. The other thing that sticks out in my mind is how far-reaching his connections were through the bank he worked for. Whether it was connections to government officials from the later part of his career in government banking, or from other bankers who reported to him during his earlier years, many of them attribute achievements in their careers to interactions with my father. Knowing how much he was able to play a part in their success through his role in banking was not only inspiring but was something I wanted to mirror.
